Green Accounting - Renewable Energy

Date: Thursday, September 14, 2017
Time: 5:30 - 8:30 pm
Speaker: Carmen Rene, NRG Renewable Energy

The ability to work for a large company and own financial statements “soup to nuts” attracted Carmen Rene to NRG Renewables.  Little did she know, this job was going to be a challenge, and not for reasons she expected. An acquisitive business team, complex and incestuous legal structure, innovative financings, rapidly changing reporting standards and increasingly stringent audit requirements translate to some challenging days in the life of an NRG Renewables accountant.

Carmen will cover some of those challenges in the following areas:

  • Standalone financial statement with and without legal structure changes
  • Tax Equity financings strategies and related accounting
  • Revenue Recognition and Lease Accounting
  • Asset Impairments and Retirement Obligations
  • Interest Rate Swaps and Cash Flow Hedges
